The Analysis of the Linguistic Comments of Naned “Son Çağrı Kur'an”.Yusuf Topyay & Mürsel Ethem - 2020 - Dini Araştırmalar 23 (59):447-466.
The word "meâl" in Arabic means "the destination or aim of something" however in terminology it means approximate translation of the Qur'an from the original text to the target language. For someone who doesn't know Arabic, the meaning of the Qur'an is the most significant and unique way to reach God's final revelation. Therefore, great responsibility has been placed on the shoulders of the translator of the Qur'an, plus the aim and duty of these translators must be to deliver God's (...)

A comparative statistical stylistic study of political and preaching speeches based on the Bozeman scale.Salih Derşevi - 2025 - Tasavvur - Tekirdag Theology Journal 10 (2):611-652.
The Bozeman scale is the most famous scale of statistical stylistics, and is based on the study of the vocabulary used by the author, and the number of verbs and adjectives in the text. Based on this scale, the ratio of dividing the number of verbs by the number of adjectives indicates its literary or sci-entific style and rationality. Therefore, this study aims to answer the follow-ing questions: How accurate is the Bozeman equation in measuring the lit-erary texts and the (...)

Antalya, which is today’s attraction center with its historical and natural beauties, was described as “a city like heaven” since ancient times. This city hosted many civilisations and states until the 13th century and became an important seaport after The Seljuks took over the region. The Seljuks applied civilization and urbanization policy also in Antalya, like other regions they ruled. The mosques, madrasahs (Islamıc theology institutions), schools, baths, caravansearis (hostels), hospices, and water cisterns in this period changed the structure of (...)

Probability distributions play an essential role in modeling and predicting biomedical datasets. To have the best description and accurate prediction of the biomedical datasets, numerous probability distributions have been introduced and implemented. We investigate a novel family of lifetime probability distributions to represent biological datasets in this paper. The proposed family is called a new flexible logarithmic- X family. The suggested NFLog- X family is obtained by applying the T- X method together with the exponential model having the PDF m (...)

Religiosity and Charitable Giving on Investors’ Trading Behaviour in the Indonesian Islamic Stock Market: Islamic vs Market Logic.Mehmet Asutay, Primandanu Febriyan Aziz, Banjaran S. Indrastomo & Yusuf Karbhari - 2023 - Journal of Business Ethics 188 (2):327-348.
This study examines retail investors’ trading behaviour and its determinants in the Indonesian _Shari’ah_ stock market by mainly focusing on the religious practice-related factors in the form of _sadaqah_ or charitable giving on individual investors’ trading behaviour. Contextually, the Islamic moral economy (IME) assumes a direct relationship between religiosity and _sadaqah_ giving due to the _falah_ (salvation) oriented individual objective function, which can be reached through doing _ihsan_ (beneficence for equilibrium). The findings based on a questionnaire survey distributed to individual (...)

Neutrosophic 2-absorbing primary ideals on lattices.Salih Yazar, Serkan Onar, E. Mehmet Özkan & Kostaq Hila - 2025 - Logic Journal of the IGPL 33 (6).
Recent advances in neutrosophic lattice theory have highlighted its potential to model uncertainty, indeterminacy, and inconsistency more effectively than classical and intuitionistic fuzzy approaches. Building upon foundational studies that introduced neutrosophic lattices and their extensions through soft structures, concept lattices, triangular norms, and lattice-valued neutrosophic sets, this study contributes to the growing body of research on neutrosophic ideals. We introduce and investigate several key notions in the context of lattices, including neutrosophic prime ideals, prime neutrosophic ideals, neutrosophic 2-absorbing ideals, 2-absorbing (...)

An application on intuitionistic fuzzy weakly 2-absorbing ideals of lattices.Salih Yazar, Serkan Onar & E. Mehmet Özkan - 2025 - Logic Journal of the IGPL 33 (6).
In this study, we investigate the notion of an intuitionistic fuzzy prime ideal and intuitionistic fuzzy weakly 2-absorbing ideal of a lattice as an expansion of a notion of a weakly prime ideal. Then, we characterize the concept of intuitionistic fuzzy weakly 2-absorbing ideals and intuitionistic fuzzy weakly primary ideals and give some results. Finally, we suggest the concept of an intuitionistic fuzzy weakly 2-absorbing ideals in a product of lattices.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) presents a significant problem that necessitates a greater understanding of its underlying molecular complexity in order to improve diagnostics and therapies. Recent studies have shed light on the critical role that mitochondrial dysfunction plays in the development and course of HCC. Once thought to be primarily involved in the synthesis of cellular energy, mitochondria are now known to be key participants in the regulation of a variety of cellular functions that go beyond bioenergetics. The purpose of this (...)

Shifting Boundaries of Self and Other: Moroccan Migrant Women in Italy.Ruba Salih - 2000 - European Journal of Women's Studies 7 (3):321-335.
This article suggests that both the multicultural perception of ‘ community’ as a bounded and internally homogeneous body and the celebration of migrants as hybrids and anti-essentialist actors fail to acknowledge the complexity of processes of identity construction. The first reifies and essentializes migrants’ cultural identities, denying subjective contestations over notions of cultural and religious authenticity. The celebration of migrants as progressive and counterhegemonic ‘hybrids’, however, reinforces essentialist understandings of ‘migrants’, producing a hierarchy between experiences of displacement. The article suggests (...)

    Pediatric Ethics Consultations: Then and Now.Zeynep N. I. Salih, Richard Schreiner & Catherine M. Groden - 2026 - Journal of Clinical Ethics 37 (3):268-275.
Many pediatric bioethics committees were formed in the wake of the infamous “Baby Doe” cases of the early 1980s. In this article, we review a historical cohort of pediatric ethics consultations at our institution from 1984 to 2007 and compare them to more modern reviews of pediatric ethics consultation. In our sample, the majority of consultations (87%) involved limitation of life-sustaining treatments, whether by do-not-resuscitate orders, withholding of further interventions, or withdrawing of interventions. A minority of consultations (23%) involved disagreement (...)

  33. New Conceptual Foundations for Islamic Business Ethics: The Contributions of Abu-Hamid Al-Ghazali.Yusuf Sidani & Akram Al Ariss - 2015 - Journal of Business Ethics 129 (4):847-857.
The dominant approach to understanding Islamic Business Ethics has been based almost exclusively on either interpretations of the Qur’an and Sunna or influenced by Western understanding of Islam and ethics. However, there is a rich—largely ignored-tradition of ethical analysis conducted by Muslim philosophers which would broaden our understanding of Islamic ethics and hence IBE. We seek to correct this imbalance by examining works of Al-Ghazali, an early Muslim philosopher, scholar, and mystic. His approach to Sufism, combining an interpretation of revelation (...)

Dynamics of International Research Collaboration in Higher Education in the Global Majority Systems: Evidence from Three Contexts.Yusuf Ikbal Oldac, Lili Yang, Jacob Oppong Nkansah & Siqing Li - forthcoming - Minerva:1-24.
A purpose of global research is to address challenges faced by all humanity. To achieve this, it is crucial to foster global collaborations that promote learning from each other on equal terms. Previous studies have predominantly focused on the Global North, with inadequate attention paid to other parts of the world. In this regard, investigating international research collaborations (IRC), especially with a focus on less researched parts of the world, is essential. Against this backdrop, this study investigates the dynamics of (...)

We examine the practice of nepotism in the Arab World and analyze how a rational-legal model of bureaucracy was never able to take hold. We draw upon ideas from institutional theory and related notions of legitimacy to provide an explanation of nepotism’s extraordinary persistence. Then we use arguments to speculate how the appearance of institutional entrepreneurs who are advocates for a new hybrid form of nepotism might begin to colonize a social space created by larger political and economic changes that (...)

There is a consensus that the effects of medical brain drain, especially in the Sub-Saharan African countries, ought to be perceived as more than a simple misfortune. Temporary restrictions on the emigration of health workers from the region is one of the already existing policy measures to tackle the issue—while such a restrictive measure brings about the need for quite a justificatory work. A recent normative contribution to the debate by Gillian Brock provides a fruitful starting point. In the first (...)

This article begins with the premise that market-oriented development strategies require more than the free movement of the factors of production from one use to another; they also require a positive work ethic and an energetic and committed workforce. However, the existing Arab work ethic does not seem conducive to␣development and change. This article assesses some antecedents that might have led to the emergence of the existing work ethic. First, we address the potential role of religion in developing a value (...)

Compulsory (health) service contracts have recently received considerable attention in the normative literature. The service contracts are considered and offered as a permissible and liberal alternative to emigration restrictions if individuals relinquish their right to exit via contract in exchange for the state‐funded tertiary education. To that end, the recent normative literature on the service programmes has particularly focused on discussing the circumstances or conditions in which the contracts should be signed, so that they are morally binding on the part (...)

However, there is a dearth of studies on its causal effects on performance in mathematics among university students. Throughout history, people have engaged in migration for various political, religious, economic, and social reasons. These migrations, which also occurred in the early centuries of Islam, provide important data about the political, sectarian, and cultural structures of the places left behind and newly settled.
